Fresh Recruit Donate to Local Charity Stand By Me.
This quarter Fresh Recruit have made a donation to the local charity ‘Stand By Me’, below is a picture of Louise giving the donation to Shirley Avery (Fundraising Trustee).
Stand by Me support children and young people through bereavement. They also support their parents/carers and other adults involved in their daily lives through their website, telephone helpline and group projects.
Stand by Me was created in 2014, and in March 2015 it gained charitable status. They now have 2-part time staff and 12 highly trained volunteers working directly with children and young people.
The Child Bereavement Network research says that in Hertfordshire over 4600 children every year experience the death of a parent which, statistically, is 1 in a class of 29 children.
Local research carried out in 2009 established that there was no dedicated community-based children’s bereavement service in North Hertfordshire and Stevenage. There is currently no statutory requirement to provide bereavement support for children and families.
